Another Night

Started out on a high and went down hill slowly until I decided to go to bed. Lets run it down so there is something worth reading.

Samiusbot, lvl 10 arty, soloed a simi fast Spies in the House. I did have a death when an air elemental kicked me out into an electric charged floor and it took me too long to get back the save spot and had to get the dog to run me to a shrine…. But for a solo run it wasn’t too bad. I managed to have run pushing my skills on my mostly ungeared arty.

I wrapped up just about the time Tobril and the wife logged in for raids and we did a quick DQ. Thinking about it, Darth also took a death right at the end thanks to a group of blades that just sat on me and chained sawed me up.

Abbott was way smooth, the wife and I did goggles using the same room method, aka I moved my screen so she can see whats up via looking at my screen and I her screen. I managed to get a seal thanks to Dis having gotten a seal for every item he has from the Abbott. Dis is a one alt guy so he can have one of every item and then some and them all upgraded.

Then the “fun” started. Elite Enter the Kobold. Now I expect deaths in eEK or at least any time I am not 100% solo for eEK with like a huge caster/evasion guy. Like Samius’ last like I had no issues but he had like a 38-43 reflex score with his 2 rogue levels so those runs were fine. But as it happens part of the time Tobril forgot the pit trap and took a dive for a quick death. And then in the end fight l over pulled trash when the Kobold jumped down into the main area of the room and Java not having a ton of HPs 460ish or evasion started just taking massive fire damage even with my firestorms/fireshield spell running and I ate it hardcore and not long once I dropped Tobril fell when he got the love of the whole room. We recovered thanks to FinFangFoom hanging out at the lever.

Then starts a hard spam where no matter what I somehow had the love of the whole room and some times I could kill the Kobold and mostly won before taking a dive. Once we dropped all the bosses and then looting the chest I took enough fireballs to finish me off.

Think I died in every quest last night other then the Abbott and the DQ 6man…

But I got some where in the 110k+ range in less then 2 hours. I took before and after screen shots so I can give a solid number when I get home. But I will say I really started tilting and just couldn’t get out of the tailspin. But somehow kept having fun.

Anyway, need to get in a little more work so going to call it. Have a good Vday. Kiss your ladies or boys and rock some kinky sex and see you in game on Friday.

Call me: Heal Dodger!

This was a hell of a tough weekend for some people, including myself at times, in game. But mostly it was hard on the wife, as her lvl 23 clr got to heal our EE group.

The wife is still finding her footing again as the healer. She has taken a break to level her Bowonk and TR her main a few times into a druid which in her words is not a healer.” Letting Grim’s ladylove, Will, play her rogue was both a break and a curse. I watched again and again as Will (and others) jumped out of the healing aoe just as the mass was landing then fail to stay alive.

Last night when Tobril and I switched to our “little” people he let me know just how often I was jumping out of the mass about once every three mins. Lets just say it was a good thing I had a 30% xp pot running to cancel all the -10% no death bonus I lost us. ☹.

Lets see:

In Dust I fell on to the spike traps and when I tried to jump out I somehow triggered it 3 more time at 200 a hit 4 hits makes a very dead Javabot.

When running with the devils I went to move Phlor’s alt up, yes I was dual boxing his account, a part member pulled some glowballs right to Java’s unmoving body. That was not the last death in that run.

In Coal Chamber.. No I didn’t die. Nor did I get lost. Tobril? I don’t think he died either… But he was lost more then once.

Rainbow I, ate a 400+ point fireball just after I took a 100 point hit from something and I cast a Heal over time vs heal. Had I been at full I think I would have lived, but as I was on my first tic I was less then full and died.

RitSac: Earth grappled to death hard. Real hard! I was less then pleased.

I really like the Druid but I need to be faster on that heal I guess. When Java was a FvS his 3 key (the easiest one for me to push) was heal (quicken) Maybe it needs to be again.

All that said, but it was a good weekend. We did the first and second Web chains on EE for some it was new favor and on Streak. The TR train is shroud flagged again and I can go and solo them on hard or normal a few times before leveling to 19. Yes it is worth leveling to get some 21s for ToD flagging on elite so I can be once and done with all of them but Sins.

Any way how is your timing when it comes to jumping out of the melee?

<3s

NOOOOOOO! Oh and a Yes.

Lets start with a little update, thanks to a friend who had a similar launcher issue I tried getting the newest DDo launcher and vs the one we downloaded back around Chirstmas when we got this new PC and everything is working. Amazing! The idea was the Mac support changes did something to the connection server that the old client was missing. So if you don’t need to do a first time install/update your fine. But if you do need that first update you might just want to go and get the newest install files. Not the worse task ever. Just would have liked to see that listed some place by Turbine….

Anyway Victory! We even got everything running and updated time for guild raid night (Abbott and a DQ). Also I was able to get some xp on Javabot. We got enough that Tobril had to level so I got to level also!

So I jumped to the back to get something I was super excited to try. Tod rings + Lig2 + animal form = Badass dps for a caster like build!

I grab my Encrusted Ring hit the tear 2 alter in the battle field added Holy Burst and started trying it out… I didn’t notice anymore damage dice….. What?

So I started doing some testing. I pulled everything and looked at my damage. Okay poopy good enough added my ring and there was the holy damage. Added the lig2 and there was its damage. Pull the ring off and no change. Put the ring back on and I crit. And I see the holy burst damage, or at least I think I did….

I make a comment and look at my lig2: holy/lighting burst/Lighting blast. Tobril says something to the effect of well you know that sometimes holy and holy burst from tod rings don’t always stack right, don’t you?

Vader Nooooo

Swap weapons to my min2 and yep the holy damage is there. Guess holy and good burst work just fine… Other then my Lig2 all my other one handed weapons are either not finished green steel or a level 1 throwing hammer with acid and cold touch… Not going to work.

So begins the next dilemma, my dps plans had me rocking a set of dps rings when needed. But always my holy burst ring and I had planed to use my lig2 to do so. But that is less then ideal. So now what?

I could add a third tear to some of the other green steel I have in the bank.:
Another lig2 in progress this one a long sword when I was rocking a monk/pally build. But it is shock/good burst.
A Rad2 think it is flaming/good burst.
Other options are:
Make a quick/cheep triple earth would be a fair to good leveling weapon.

Following the thought about a good leveling weapon, do I really want to burn the mats? Not really so what is lying around that I could get?

My first thought is I have been meaning to make a few of the one handed Cannith Elemental Weapons. Would the Water Khopesh be a winner? Maybe the Air rapier would be a better match?

But then I started thinking what other lvl 16 weapons are around?
Envenomed Blade could be good for a few levels.
Fang of Siberys, I have one someplace I am sure.
Those Druid weapons that are caster/dps hybrids that are not amazing at either but touch both are easy to come by, maybe one of them.
I would cash in a tome set if they weren’t about to get a huge upgrade…

The other option is just keep using the Lig2, and miss out on a set of damage numbers it is not like it is worse then what I was using a few hours ago right?

Send in your thoughts. Also if you have any input as to what to add to the other right let me know.

1, 2 Skip a Few 16, 17, 18

Last week as you know, I TRed Java into a druid and powered him up to stoning level and cracked open my Otto’s box that I have bought just for him..

Xp heaven!

Did the gear thing as best as I could he still has 0 rings until 18… But the questing thing as been good times even if has strange out of the blue issues. But he has XP for 18 and I am working on finishing milking the xp from Litany before I take it. See any of my 100 posts at to how I ❤ litany.

Lets jump to things that are working/things I have learned.

Using a SunFlask in animal form for fighting ghosties does grant ghost touch BUT you need to cast magic fang, as they are not magical so you need to be at least +1 for the ghost touch to work…

Remember to turn on Reaving Roar after any out of the blue death that may happen do to lag or the lack of quicken.

At some point you want quicken for heal, vigor, earthquake and summon spells. Don’t be like me and forget until you start playing again post stoning to 16 and have to wait until 18… There has been more then one death due to taking a big hit while casting and losing the spell.

The Druid Deep chain is killer for pets. Leaves of the Forest/Liveword Core (15+) are big fort simi good AC pet armor at least for ungeared new pet owners. The level 22+ versions are less then ideal however. But a nice Hide of the Goristro shouldn’t be too bad or too hard to get. Want to say I have a Con+8 Vertigo+10 set ready for Fin Fang Foom. But the real winner is the Ivy Wraps. You can find the lvl 15 wraps on the AH for less then 100k assuming someone doesn’t buy them all up. And if you happen to pull an eN or eH version you might even think about giving it you your dog. Short of making LoB wraps for it I can’t think of a better Dog wrap.

Brawling Gloves, So far it seems that the d4 from being Spike Studded is working in dog form assuming I remember to swap back to them after I trigger a power drain. More and more I am glad I took the time to make T3 versions of the lvl 16 gloves they have gotten a metric ton of use with all of Samius’ TRs and more or less every leveling alt.

ToD Rings: Now I haven’t gotten to them yet but I think that tod rings burst damage work in animal form. If that is right, I will be grinding out the Knost’s Belt and will be using that set full time I think. I could also swap in and around the Oremi’s set for a little more dps when a torc is not needed.

Lastly, I found that the dog can be a real helper. Keep it healed. Cast a few buffs and/or take the time to ship buff it up and you wont regret. Fin has gotten more kills then some other people in the group. And with the Ivy wraps/collar and a few points in the feed line he is mostly self healing assuming he passes his saves vs big fire balls and the like.

Good enough for today,
<3s

How the Hireling …

I so wanted to complete that title with “Fracked Me” but I am not sure how turbine would like that. So I will just stick it in the first line so you can get the feel for the ton of this post.

Last night I was on the newly TRed Javabot, I just wrapped up the level 2 and 3 quests that I do for favor and leveled to 4. A fast zerg of the back half of the Water Works and the first half of the Splinter Skull chain I decided to do the Sharn market chain.

The first few runs were simple enough nothing my dog army couldn’t handle. Btw when push came to shove I went with FinFangFoom, just too good of a name not to use. And then I hit Book Binder and what I call the Jumping on the Bed Quest. What? You know you take a sec and jump on the beds also.

So I clear Book Binder, call my hire rogue and set about disarming the traps and then opening the doors. Get to the very last trap box tell the hire to disarm it and it runs to the door nearest to the trap. Hits the door, some how one shoting its, setting off the fireball one which opens and agros the room across the hall. The alert goes nuts the hire starts to die super fast. In other werds, fan + poop….

I can’t keep the hire, FinFangFoom and myself all up so I dismiss the hire. She has done her damage. Just then Fin dies. I take the pet had died hit. One of the Npcs dies failing the quest for me and before I could be booted or make it to the exit I take a lighting bolt and a fireball to the back.

And things were going so well until that point. Sigh.

Rebuff and take extra care to line up the rogue so it is really unlikely that it would try to path threw the door to get to the trap box. And we win handily.

The arty didn’t have any of these issues. I miss trap skills some times.

Staring at New Tail

So last night I bit the bullet and TRed Javabot in to my Druid build. I was back and forth on the details but I ended up saying why not go for it all the way? And I went 16 str, 18 con, 16 wis and any other points in int. I was back and forth as 16 wisdom is max on a WF and I didn’t want to change race on Java and I thought maybe I should just tank DCs and plan on pure DPS. But 2 more str wasn’t going to break me and I like the hybrid play style that Samius did on his druid life and that is want I want to recreate.

I didn’t do a lot of planning again for this TR. I know I just did a blog post about taking a sec and getting my shit together b4 a TR and I did some stuff. And I looked for a few things but after 30/40 mins cleaning the TR cache and hitting the AH and the vendors for lvl1 staffs/wraps/collars/leather armor I said “Frack It” and just used the starter flaming touch axe and a stack of pots for level 1.

Speaking of level one seemed to take a long time. Mostly because my summon nature’s trash pet was less then amazing and as I said before my druid dog was less then stellar. Speaking of the dog by the way, I think I have chosen him a name, Syntax. Roboty and yet doesn’t have a bot in the title. Although I tweeted it and Ecgric has a few good options also including Python which is now major contender or maybe just go with my first name: Fin Fang Foom!

Level 2 brought the good stuff, WOLF form and a slew of good weapons icy burst/ holy great axe and a flaming/icy rapier. But the real wining weapon/tip came from DDo cast: sun flasks for Undead/oozes. If you equip them in form you don’t throw them, but get the massive light damage vs guys it hurts and ghost touch, they are such a main stay for this druid from now on!

Level 2 went nice and fast clearing the near the harbor bank quests. Information is key, all those little favor quests and Durk’s, find my backpack and the kill everyone quest.

At 3 I hit New Ring leader and now I have xp for lvl 4. Think I will polish up the favor quests before taking it though.

Okay some thoughts, Wolf form is still amazing, takedown is the nuts! Throw in the WF trip line – vertigo weapon/shield in the off hand and you are a tripping king. Being a WF in form is strange. Some things works like you think they should like healing is amazing. I have a Blood/ Invulnerability docent, which is really good for my atm. Sure I loose some fort but pick up some amp. A (max) lesser vigor in form gives 10 a tick if I cast and open a door it down shifts to 6 until the door is open and then upshifts back again as soon as I return to wolf form. Also sometimes while swimming I have a breath meter and others times I don’t always in form… And finally the thing that gets me is I have some tasty ham oils and turkey dinners from something… And in form I can’t use the oil, which makes sense, but I can’t eat the turkey, which doesn’t. Also while in form I am immune to repair, which makes since, but that means I need to remember to carry normal healing pots now too. ☺

Well back to work, <3s

Three Hours of Sleep

I am bone tired this morning folks, think I caught Tobril’s insomnia that I thing he may have caught from Grim… Insomnia just one of the MMO transmitted illnesses. According to Tobril he can pass on the herp also, be careful of DG members shadow humping you. 1 in 4 America,1 IN 4! Time to wear latex gloves when playing, I know I do, can’t give me the herp…..

Okay that was slightly off, man I am ¾ asleep at the wheel.

So what kept me awake? Mostly work stuff and gear stuff, but there was some migraine stuff and general life stuff thrown in for fun also. If I can I just say, “I couldn’t shut my brain off last night” would that be a viable option?

But lets look at the game stuff as ideally this is a DDo blog post….

Level 18, the last feat on the current build pre epic feats and the last tear of items pre epic levels.

ToD Items: Pale Master and Wild Mage rings no belts…. Really I threw out my belts?? Speaking of belts, I went ahead and equipped a con+6/GFL belt. How is it I kept this belt and lost both set belts again….

Armor: By using the Con/GFL belt I was able to free up my Dragon touched for an amp/amp/guard one and a possible swap of Regalia of the Phoenix. Swear I have an unlocked one, but it not BtC so I am thinking not… Will need to look again tonight.

Implement/Spellpower: But my DT had my generic potency on it so I got to play hunt around for potency game. I found a lvl 16 cove dagger t1 I think (not horrible) and a scepter of the ogre magi. The dagger has less potency but a higher implement bonus then the scepter I will use the dagger most of the time and work on making a few more shields and make swaps for bigger spell power a given element.

Quick Side note: Why and the hell is the Staff of the Petitioner/Fleshshaping/Arcane Power not implements? Other then Cloak of the Dragon every other implement I know of is a weapon… All caster driven staffs need this bonus….

Well I am going to take a nap under my desk, wake me if my boss is looking for me.

A Wonderfully Long Weekend

Man I love it when holidays fall in the middle of the work week giving me an excuse to take an extra day and go for a mini vacation. My office had Thursday off (paid), Friday was a mandatory ETO day and the wife was able to get Wednesday off so I took Wednesday off also. So I had a sweet 5-day weekend. I played some DDo. Okay lots of DDo. Might say I was on a bit of a bender.

When last we spoke I had just taken level 13, last night logging post Litany and Missing xp farms I am in the middle of rank 89. So I am level 17 with a rank and a half to go until I am forced to take 18. So it doesn’t seem like I did all that much playing, unless you pop over to Grim’s page and you see that the DG and our British friends were able to team up for much EEs. Some of those quests were my first runs of those quests. But I don’t want to get in to the EE’s right now other then we did really very well and I am more pleased with the Brits after each week. To the point I am tempted to move to share a time zone with them and most of the time my dick/fart/gay/slightly racist jokes bring lolz over the team speak. For the record the land of Loth is full of black people (drow) covered in sticky while stuff/huge sperms and when a drow dies they become “white” ghosts. I am not a hater but I can’t help but see things sometimes and if I see it the group will hear about it.

Today I want to list my tips for rocking benders.

1, Fluids, dehydration a good player does not make. And I am not talking about soda, but real fluids. Water, juice, tea, rum, and milk you know the important ones.

2, Food, thankfully Thursday and later I was mostly able to live off leftovers. But I made a real breakfast each morning and I was able to take advantage of the wife wanting to do some shopping to get her bringing me dinner at least once.

3, Sleep, when tired you play sloppy. Plan on at least 6 hours of sleep. Me I would go to bed around 12:30 1:00 and wake up about 7:30 and not want to waste the day. Jump up do some basic daily chores, shit, shower, clean underpants etc… This is a good time to plan for number 1 and 2. There is an upside of having kids they can bring you 1 and 2.

4, Teammate/s, I this week I mostly had Tobril but I did have lots of time with the kids over seas. But having a team really helps keep you motivated and moving. Catch yourself just once just running and jumping around for 30 mins and you will know what I mean.

5, A Positive Outlook, this weekend had some really aggravating moments. I don’t even want to think of all the lost xp due to the ground just randomly eating me. Looking in the combat log and I would just take massive damage and die from now discernable source. Once and a while I would make a real mistake and miss time a jump to avoid a trap or forget to fire up my deathward. But the real story of the week was this: (Combat): You attempt to save versus hold person. You roll a 1 : save failure! 25 SR all the time, Bard past life, not a horrible Wisdom score, Wizard good save is WILL but still if I can roll a 1 and die to a hold or a sound burst that is when I will roll a 1. Never fails. So it is important to keep a positive outlook because you will have out of the blue punches but you can’t let it get you on tilt.

6, Mix things up a little, If you plan to grind 15 hours on your TR straight you better plan to take some time and do some slower quests for fun. 15 hours of mindless xp per min is draining. Pause to be carefree some times. For example “force” a Brit to heal your tank on EE quests you have never done before, trust me it is lots of fun.. ☺

Okay kids hope that helps you out on your next bender. Me I plan to use these tips again next weekend. XPSSSSSS

Bloody Crypt, like a Baby Shadow Crypt

So last night Tobril and I leveled to 8 and started xping. We finished up Splinter Skull, worked on Gray Moon some and then formed up with another small group for some Bloody runs.

For the most part each run was simi-smooth although with a full group and breaking into 4 teams, each to cover a corner the scaling was a little off. Shooting from no skull to red in seconds and gone again not quite as fast only to return again and again. I had a soul stone moment; when the wife who was my kill the caster person got called to help another melee, on the way from finishing my side I saw I had missed a priest and went to look for him. I had 42 sp left and planed to use it to fuel a death blow so I started the fray with a use of a fireball wand I happened to have. He lived and countered with a hold person, I failed to save as always (how many bard lives to not auto fail will saves?) and the 5 other guys I pissed with that fireball off killed me.

We also had a good time for a moment when we had just restarted and was clearing the first mobs when I fell threw the floor in to the red goo that holds that dungeon. I took a moment and placed myself on the map at the end of the quest for a funny screen shot and was /stucking when I was sent to my bind location out of the quest… I can understand having some kind of catch all for people falling through the floors, but can’t was use the /stuck command or maybe return people to the quest start? Ran back to the quest, did my corner and helped the not Tobril melee’s to do their corner also…

After wrapping up Bloody, Tobril and I did a little more xp quests where he decided to take his turn as a soul stone and get carried around by me.

Over all it was a fun night, Tobril caught up and pulled ahead a little xp wise so I will solo a bit of a walk down in a quest or two before taking level 9, which should mean that some time tonight you will see a tweet about how I am the first DDocaster to hit Completionest.

As always, xp for everyone but more for me. ☺

Good to be Home Again.

Friday after a bout 90 mins of waiting for Tobril to get his gear in order, Tobril and I started xping on our newly level 1 mains again, this time for real. Unlike the last few runs, where capping was the goal, this time we are spreading out hitting the important favor and pushing even more xp later and later to try and save some quests for post 20 epic action.

Have to say things feel more relaxed and settled. We are both back in our “normal” roles. T in his melee role and myself in a caster hybrid role although I am shifting in to less of a melee and more caster a little ahead of my normal wizard path, but I will talk a little more about that later.

Logged last night having played for a little while at level 7 with (I think) plans to take 8. Want to say we have a little room xp wise but since we finished most of the level 5 quests that we want for favor we might as well move up and start the 6s.

Finding my footing again as “the caster” has been fun. At first things started as a melee, first level was a rogue after all. Then as I started adding wizard levels I slowly was able to mix in spells. Acid spray and shocking grasp were my go to spells. At the trainer I said over mic I was thinking about taking Maximize over Empower and Tobril asked why would I not take Max at level 1? When I explained that max can burn the xp a little faster at low levels then I would like, leaving me to have to melee in places when I would rather like to just blast my way through, ie taking longer in some quests. But with a full time melee in the group I don’t have to worry as much about running dry, if I do then he can take on the main dps role and I can help as able. And that happened more then a few times in the early levels.

Around level 4-5 things started shifting again, aka Web and Inivis changed how we did quests. We shifted into more and more of a gather – web – blast or invis as able mindset for questing. 6 and 7 Ice storm scrolls and acid blasts came online, lets just say I used 100 scrolls as if like plat grows on trees and all of a sudden I was in the driver seat full time again. Run, Gather, Run, Web, Icestorm, AcidBlast, Scorch, Repeat. I could see how having an unlocked Purple Ioun Stone would be a huge boost at low levels, right now I am just using a guild slotted wiz 3 cannith crafted ring.

Speaking of gear I am using a three-item Abishai set, gauntlets, bracers and boots. The boots are a real nice right now; corrosion +48 is huge at level 5 if you want to use a big blast spell and web. Might need to see about making some rock boots at the different lvl tears, assuming I stay as acid specked as I am now.

One last thing, I did take the sorc past life to see if it would allow me to AM with it counting as Mental Toughness (it doesn’t which is bull shit) and due to a moment of what I can only call sleepiness I took Enchantment focus and not my intended Evocation focus… So to fix the test error I swapped the sorc past life to mental toughness, meaning I am a Enchantment AM right now. I will try out the dance SLA if it takes us less then 3 days to reach level 10. If not I will be switching to Evocation regardless how much fun a cheep web might seem.

Okay I have gone a lot longer then I meant to and I have more ramblings to knock out later. Unless something strange happens expect more of these thoughts tomorrow.
