What I am Watching

Today I had a bit of a topic block. Twitter had some good topic ideas but nothing I wanted to cover too much today as I want to get some up to date photos or wait for an upcoming event. Like I will talk about the chickens again when we move them to their coop for the first time or fishes when I start getting the aquaponics rolling. So today I cover an old stand by what I am watching.

Most long time readers know that I have a second computer screen that I use to stream Netflix and now HBO go… plus I get to go home for lunch as I live like 2 mins from work. So I do get to watch a little TV each day. Oh and the 30-40 mins before heading out to work in the morning… J  I bring that up as the kid was almost late to school today due to my watching Swamp People!

So Shows, Swamp People I have talked about it before. By far one of my favorite shows and an almost perfect pre work show as watching people fishing monsters can get the blood pumping.

MI-5 this is a little British show, guess I shouldn’t say that now as I just looked and it has been running since 2002 and looks like it is still running. I am into session 3 and I love it.  Doesn’t hurt that British chicks are hot…

Game of Thrones, think almost everyone is watching this one right now. The third session as just started and I would have waited and picked up the blueray like we did with S2 but the wife didn’t want to wait. Also she wanted to re-watch the first session as to follow the plot a little better.  I have to say with it playing there my DDo skills are really improving. I didn’t die or even pause when the nude scene/s started and was able to keep rocking xp even if my eyes were screaming!

As all ways we are watching the normal shows Storage Wars and American Restoration.

But there are two shows that have me totally hooked right now Counting Cars and Income Property.

Lets start with Counting Cars, http://www.history.com/shows/counting-cars. It is another History Reality Show in the same vain as Pawn Stars and American Restoration but about fixing up cars and other vehicles. Now I am a sucker for fix it shows. I don’t know why. Maybe it is because I can’t fix my way out of a paper bag or maybe I just wish I had been interested in this kind of stuff when I was a kid and my father was trying to teach me some of these skills. But I was to far in my own world to be bothered to learn… I just don’t know. But I dig them!

Income Property, http://www.hgtv.com/income-property/show/index.html, has a similar feel as it is a fix it up show but has a different hook they are always trying to turn the property into a way to make money. In some cases to reduce payments, others to eliminate payments or in most cases to get positive income. It is really good watch.

I would love to have a few houses that Scott has redone so I am making enough money that I could afford to buy a car/bike from the Count and having my Urban Farm running well enough that my full time job could be blogging/podcasting and playing DDo that would be living the dream!

With the computer down I have an abundance of free time that I have now used to take the family out to dinner for the week. Catch up on Iron Man and Farscape Comics even found another comic I really like Saga and picked up some Doctor Strange a book I have always wanted to read but never found the time. But as the title might give away I have been watching lots of TV. And as I like shows I hate feeling like I am wasting my time just watching TV when I could have something on and farming xp or some bit of gear if I am just going to be sitting around.

Anyway I happened to notice that there was going to be a marathon of one of my favorite shows and I set the DVR to tape 4 or 5 of them. And it got me thinking. It has been awhile since I made some lists.

So todays list my favorite TV shows. Some slots will have ties, okay one slot; I think you will understand why.

5, Survivor Man – Most of the shows on this list have a level of rewatchabilty higher then most programs on TV. This show happens to be the one that I was watching last night as I was mentally making this list. Also how many shows get to return from the dead? A few years ago Les retired from doing Survivor man I thought to focus on his music, but now he is back with Survivor Man 10 days. Instead of walking out like he has done many times he goes in to more detailed look into 10 days of trying to thrive in a survival situation this is made possible because the show is broken in to two parts, each having 5 days. Makes two hours flyby like never before.

4, Mentalist – This is one of the two best shows on tv right now. Funny and smart often giving you clues that you might over look and then you say I get it at the end. Sometimes I am fooled even, but I am generally good at notice the clues shows.

3, Suits – This show is the other best show on Tv right now, sorry to any Whovans. (yes Doctor Who would be 6th on my list). Also funny and smart it has a killer cast and amazing writers. And I can watch and re-watch almost any episode at any time and enjoy it.

2, Buffy/Angel/Firefly – How do you pick just one Joss Whedon show? I can’t really. I might say Firefly had a little more in the over all plot department, but Angel had real moving character development and Buffy well is just amazing over all and has Willow in it. See how you just can’t pick just one. But all of these shows live in my recently watched list on Netflix.

1, House MD – By far the best TV show for me. Funny, smart amazing story lines, character development and one of the few shows where I can’t know the answer because I am not a medical encyclopedia.

If I expanded this out to a top 10 I would need to find slots for Doctor Who, MASH, Batman the animated series (this is “my” batman), Dexter; should have set it with Suits really as it has all the same qualities and it is clearly on of the best shows still on. Lie to Me is another top 10 contender.

Then we start falling deeper into my past but maybe I will do more lists for the next few days. After all how much DDo can I talk about with out playing? Lots but nothing helpful…

Well first off that is not 100% right, I mostly do Netflix but this is the session for the “fall” shows to fire up so lets run down what I have been watching and what I am looking forward to catching.

I have been keeping up with my normal summer shows, Covert Affairs, Suits (this season was super good), Breaking Bad…. But I have some new shows for me in the last few weeks.

Being Human UK – I normally find the UK tv to be more my style (humor/writing wise) and I find it is easier for me to watch as I don’t know the actors very often so I can more easily think of them in their role in the show vs them on other shows or their personal actions out side of the show.

The Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes, Yes it is a cartoon. And I say Hell Yeah! It is really good. Started watching it with the boy waiting on planes to and from GenCon and finished it over this last weekend in a Marvel mini marathon in my basement. And I ran to the computer to see how I could get the second session. But it took a year off for rebranding and a little artwork redesign to align with the movie universe a little better.

Sherlock, I did not get enough of this show. Netflix only has the first season which is 3 shows. But I see now that Amazon has the second on demand so hello!

Falling Skies, Just bought the second season on Google play and I am loving it. I was stocking piling the shows (as I like to watch 3-5 shows at once) on my DVR when it died and we had to get a replacement. Grrrr, so 23$ for 10+ hours of show think that is money well spent

The normal Storage War shows, I really like this season of SW: Texas. The cut the sloppy lady (? Do we call bad post ops ladies??) and repaised her with 2 ladies. A so so looking but simi smart girl and a hot very ditsy lady. And Bubba/ Ricky combo never fails to make me smile.

Oh and got handed a copy of the first season of Game of Thrones. I have to say I am fairly pleased. I am like 4 eps in and I have gotten the gist of what is going on and I like seeing lot of (old) faces again. Speaking of seeing faces I had to pull out the IMDB to put roles/names to so many of them. I turns out that they pulled heavily from that British casting pool that I loved because I don’t know them. But now they have a history and it is messing with my mental story. Also the Queen is Sara Connor! And the king is Bill from still standing! Two of my favorite lesser-known actor/actress….

As for other things, Mentalist is about to start up, as well as the normal sitcoms and Syfi has their new eps of there super Mondays and they have been good so far.

I will try that new show Revolution? That show where the power stops and the jump to 5 years later and how people have handled the fall out. This is getting long so let me just list a few shows on my radar. Arrow, Beauty and the Beast (wife), Elementary (House replacement I hope), Mob Doctor (looks like a maybe). And I need to see if there is some way to keep fresh on Doctor Who so I don’t get spoiled too hard by my Brit tweeps.

So that is more or less my Tv list. Am I missing anything? Extra points for shows on Netflix.
