Lets Call Today Friday

So first of al; Sorry for not getting a post out on Friday, work was really nuts and by the time I got home I was wiped and just wanted to go play Magic. Btw drafted a sick blue/black deck loaded with counters removal and other control. Rocked Agro decks but had issues with live gain as my men were kinda slow and small….

Second of all I still love Reaving Roar!

While this stance is active, killing an enemy grants you a 6% competence bonus to threat generation for 10 seconds, and creates a burst of sonic damage that damages all nearby enemies for 13d6 sonic damage. Killing an enemy your own level or higher has a 100% chance of activating this ability. For every level below you, the chances are reduced by 20%. A monster two levels lower then you only has a 60% chance of creating this effect. This stance dispels Fatal Harrier, but stacks with all other stances.

That means the current TR train has been moving at a solid pace I know I took level 9 and then spent 30 mins looking for gear that should have been easy to find (BtA +6 stat gear) but I ended up just crafting them again in poopy BtC throwaway blanks. But that is fine what else am I doing with my crafting levels? Nothing and from what I have heard Lam doesn’t have any new Cannith Recipes anyway so I got the feeling it will just be another uncompleted system like every other new system from Turbine.

Dreaming is easy and fun, DOING IS HARD…. – any dev @ Turbine Ever!

So I just want to do a quick layout for any other people looking at doing a dog melee/caster hybrid. I am still using my shocking burst/icy burst/of pure good Scimmy paired with a +2 wooded shield with a blue slot (heavy fort) I also have a weapon set with the Sun flask/shield and the dagger from Threnial (cold 54 in the red slot and I haven’t slotted the orange yet.) My main spells are the melee attack spells Ice storm and Cold Breath. Cold Breath is a monster, as it has like a 4 sec cool down and with Maximize turned on it does like a 150-200 easy. Not bad for lvl 9.

Not bad at all.

Guess I need to wrap this up real fast, I got Netbeans actually working again so time to recreate the hours of step up I did this morning right before it crashed and died and maybe get some momentum going again.

Guess I have this on the brain, my wife is playing a FvS stick build (not sure what the class split is) but I can see some kind of not animal form druid dual wielding the flame blades with a big Wis for DPS for my epic healer. I expect Healzyounot to have a make over in the coming weeks.

Form of a Dog!

Yep the other day I TRed Java back into a druid and I am already really glad I did. There is something just pure fun about this animal form melee/caster mashup. All the cool melee attack spells at your disposal and lets not to leave out Blood Moon enchantment line (kill a guy move/attack faster harder). So much fun.

So Monday I took a few hours and cleared the TR bank. Making trips to the barkeep on the boat to sell things that somehow were “special” when really they were trash. Then after the char creation process I started digging through the new TR bank and there are loads of junk items that didn’t need to saved.

How does that happen? EVERY DAMN TIME! I dumped Repair pots and some easy to farm BtC items and some how a +1 flaming shield of mod fort like level 15 made it?

I just don’t understand…..

I will try to talk more in depth about the leveling process on this life and how the build is forming. Maybe I will even do a little “how to” write up at the end, IDK….

But that does bring me to another topic I need to talk just a little bit about, Writing schedule.

For a long time I was every work day quick blog post man, mainly due to hiving been stuck on a soul crushing project that I needed to take 15 mins to think about anything else everyday or I would go insane. And while that project is still on my to do list it is not the main focus for my day everyday all the time.

And that is amazing. But that also means finding that 15 mins is starting to become a challenge. So I am going to change to a Wednesday and Friday update for sure and then try to do smaller updates from home on Samius’ time. And those I can’t promise because would you rather play DDo or write about ddo? Yeah me to.

Well see you for sure on Friday.

Gear and Other Kicks in the Nuts

So I have been rocking the gear plan for my rogue build McPlunderer and last night I sat down and made a BIG push.

Now equipped:

eE Black Dragon Helm (dex 8, death block and something slotted)
Int 8 goggles.
Exceptional Fort of Protection 6 necklace (Not sure what other then EE J Collar to put here)
T3 Eye Glass (PRR slotted)
Black armor (epic is a comm away thanks to a eN FoT)
eE Mantel of the Dragonfriend (Fort and exceptional int+1)
eN Girdle of Giants’ Brawn, Yeah a eH brings a green slot which would be cool but the eN was handy. (Wisdom 7 and exceptional Strength +1)
eH Bracers of Twisting Shade (NO swap Skills, some seeker, Resist +7)
A cannith crafted Con6/GFL with a slot (Insightful Con 2 slotted)
eN Ring of Shadows (+20 HP)
eE Backstabber’s (fear immunity)
Cannith Boots of Propulsion

Main weapons are the Epic Mighnight and the Agony. Would like to go Balizard and eMidnight. Balizard brings some goodies that are more then just weapon procs. And who is 50% ranged DPS that doesn’t want a Pinion but the eE Tortured Livewood Bow is not that far behind (not that I have one of them handy though)

The right eH or eE Intricate Field Optics could make some swaps happen but really are not supper important. And getting a 3rd comm would let me make that black armor and give me a place to slot the 35 hp and go to a Con 8 ring (with a slot ???? for Insightful Con 2)

And a GS hp pair of boots could/would be made if I had a shard of power. ☺

Also for those that missed my angry tweet last night, pulled a Napkin on McPlunderer (after I made all the other gear fit) when I really need one on Samius.

Look for a rant on not having an option for moving raid loot soon.

Now Back to work for meetings!

Ps if you have feed back use the comments or send me a mail.

The Return of Fin Fang Foom!

After a few weeks of fiddling with the Juggernaut I am just not as pleased with how Javabot is playing. Just so happens Tobril is having the same issues…. Could that have anything thing to do with the DG play style? I think probably.

So last night Tobril asks me if I have a plan to TR Java and how close I was too ready to go under. I knew it was coming as he spent a few points/weeks converting his arty icon into a ranger icon for the past live feat. So I have been mulling it over and have been talking it out some. Namely that I was still hating on the Jugg because I was not done playing with the druid frame. So I am thinking about either just returning to pure 20 druid OR doing a 9/9/2 druid/monk/fighter build and try to really go nuts with double striking touch of deaths…

Doing a pure druid life would be just for me and how I feel like i am leaving druid uncompleted. Going 9/9/2 would be to knock out another class life with trying to push the double strike dps to its max. Which after a quick twitter asked and answered shields seem to uncenter druids in form, aka I lose a lot of the big perks of the wolf form.

Wonder how a glueing rogue or fighter or bard even would work?

My gut tonight as i finish this says, just go pure and rock all the druid love out of the system. If that stays true come a few days and a few levels lvl 10 will be druid and Fin Fang Foom will be back in force!

Damn My Broken Headset!

Disclaimer: This story is from my POV and I am if it seems as if I am laying any blame at anyone’s feet I am not. The only blame is on my damn mics crapping out on me!

This weekend the HoDW and DG got our shit together and ran some raids, namely Web and FoT. I say that because we the DG have a returning guildie (Bennie) that has never ran these raids before and he has a limited play schedule due to a new baby.  So getting everyone’s timing sorted can be a bit of a pain.  But we did and they are fairly smooth runs.

Lets roll back some for this all to make since. I have a Bluetooth headset. I forget the model now but I am sure I talked about it when I got it. It was fairly solid but has some usability issues. Like I had to remember to have it on when starting DDo or the game didn’t know about it. And it also didn’t handle normal wear and tear very well. So now it won’t even turn on. So the last week or two I have been using my standing mic and speakers. Meaning I have been trying to keep my chatter down as to not cause any undue feed back. But I think that my standing mic as been having issues for a while now also as I have been using it for New DDo Cocktail Hour shows and there has been a buzz for a while now. Well yesterday I guess they were just getting buzzing and no Samius so I was mic less. Or I should say I was trying to pass messages via text chats and the wife.

Okay fast forward to raid formation, Bennie asks about changing his build to a centered wrap/caster/healbot, while we pug out the last few slots. Think we have 8 or 9 people so a mostly guild run but not all.  (Yes I think of HoDW as guild even though they still want to hang onto their guild name….) We pick up a few channel people and we go on eHard web. Like I said the run was fairly smooth and we get to the chests. After 7 runs I would really like a comm or two and there are a few weapons that I would like to get but I have seen like 5 weapons in all those runs.

I start to look chests and 3rd or 4th chest Antipode…  Shit. Takes me like 6 secs to check the guild list for builds that might need the web wraps and Bennie is the only one. Pass. No questions no issues. And I loot the rest of my crap and get ready to move on. Have the wife pass the message that I left the wraps to Bennie and to be sure that he gets them.

Then the wife says Bennie pulled a Pinion! Aka one of the reasons I run the raid and my head goes time for some quid pro quo. Bennie asks in Teamspeak if anyone wants it and gets about 5 replies including the wife wanting it for herself!

I do my best to type out that I could use it in guild chat but you know how guild can get lost if you have loot turned on. Before long Bennie says roll for it. And guild starts to roll. Then the puggers ask what is for roll and after some discussion the roll was opened up to everyone. And in normal fashion a pugger won the roll and got the bow….  Which is fine and not the point.

Think had my voice been on Bennie and I would have had that quid pro quo moment and I would have gotten that bow. But having to try and talk through someone else that also wanted the thing and my poor typing basically took what was a clear trade and made it a loss.

Yes, I ordered a new mic about 4 hours after that raid should be here tomorrow if not later today.

Why Can’t I Make my Living Playing DDo?

This last few weeks at work have been killer, fires to put out, trying to be avable to answer questions for the new guy and not to go in to many details my company is starting to make some leaps I have been working towards for a while now but didn’t have the resources to knock out. Hell last night I work up at least 4 times due to catching myself dreaming about work issues, aka unacceptable.

I miss the days of coming home and logging on and being wrapped up in DDo until right before bed. Last night Tobril and I talked shopped while doing Rusted Blade spams. It was very strange, not that we have talked about work issues before but mostly those things were coding issues or personal issues that could be solved or vented about and leaving the conversation at least feeling better and not struggling just as much with those issues hours later….

You know I have/had more passion for DDo then any job I ever had. I never did a 0 profit anything for a work project because I just loved my job. But I have done lots of DDo related things just for the love of the game.

So in a world where there are professional StarCraft players, why can’t I rock some DDo for real life loots?

It is just not right I tell you.

And yes I could play DDo for 40 hours a week with that same love as I do now. Mostly because I am near 40s a week anyway I think…. 20ish hour weekends + 1 to 4 hour nights weeknights….

Time to Move the Computer?

My wife is a huge “reality” tv fan and I think her favorite has just started, Big Brother. The nice thing for ME about her watching Big Brother is they (CBS) does this thing called live streams most of the time so there is always something for her to watch. The bad thing is there is always something for her to watch and how our computers are set up (right next to each other) that means that I have to hear all this noise.

Guess I need to expand on that just a little in case you don’t know the show. The idea of the show is take a bunch of people and lock them in a house full of cameras and make them vote themselves out a person a week until there are just a few left all a while making them play games for both prizes and “power” in the game structure.

Okay fairly simple idea for a show even though I don’t watch the show why would that make me want to move my PC?

What you might not think about is the game is full of political BS meaning everyone whispers all the time as to try and not be over heard by everyone else. Meaning for people that watch the “live” streamings there is little audio help from CBS so you end up maxing out your speakers. And it is a simple fact that if you are the one trying to hear something it needs to be about 400 times louder for you then for everyone else in the house to be able to hear. It is just a simple fact.

So either I need to talk the wife in to using her head phones or I might just be better off moving my PC into another room for the next 3 months so I don’t have to hear how girl A is pissed that boy B is talking to girl C because she said she is sisters with famous person I don’t give a fuck…

And yes that was the story for my hour of DDo time last night as I slowly worked on the eGh explorer zone alone except for my army of hires. Yup, that is the other down side of giving her something to watch, my main DDo partner now has other things to do besides get me loot and xps….

What a double edge sword this show is.

Well back to work,

My New Handicap

I tweeted I think on Monday that the wife gave me my anniversary gift, a Logitech G600 mouse.

Oh yeah….

OMG, that is a lot of buttons…. What was I thinking?

Okay, first of all it is not really that many buttons okay it but work with me.

G8/G7 are for mouse modes so they are not important for game play.

G15 –G20 is mapped to control 1-6 and I have mapped control 1-6 to be 1-6 on the second game bar. I never did so before because when I first started playing control + numbers was difficult for me on my old ThinkPad laptop. When I moved to gaming Pcs I was set in my ways. Now I had a chance when I moved to the Merc keyboard but still I didn’t bother. But one of the reasons I wanted this mouse was to get more quick keys in my grasp.

G9 and G12 are for my second row control 9 and 0 keys.

Hey it seems strange not to just map a key to control and use the number keys and I might try that later… IDK. There is something to one button pushes in my mind, even if I “loose” quick access to 2 of the possible quick keys. And I say that because…

G10 and G13 are mapped to next noncombat / previous noncombat. My old MX 500 I had the forward button mapped to next noncombat and if I got over zealous with my clicking I would have to click through again vs backing up.

G 11 and G14 would be next combat and previous combat (my MX500 the back button was next combat see the above issue with just one button for targets). And the G14 is working, but for some reason G11 doesn’t want to do any of my commands. I am going to try mapping it to some letter and use notepad to see if it is working at all. My gut says no…

Now if I could just get a touch screen and touch the icons I need as needed maybe I could be a hair faster….

Okay back to the grind,

Destiny Planing: McPlunderer

I got some real DDo time in this weekend, mostly rocking my rogue and I was super pleased. Yes as I thought there is an issue of running out of HPs in some cases but for the most part I felt healing from the healers was about the same as when rocking Darth. As for kills I only looked once at the end of a quest but most of the time I was leading kill counts (the one time that stands out I had 69 kills vs low 20s and high teens) not that kill count is a good judge of dps (2wf and massive sneak attack for the last hit is okay however) but I do know I was assassinating the hell out of trash mobs every time my timer was off cool down and big boss fights were amazing during manyshot bursts. Not that I was quit keeping up with Tobril during his Furyshot bit I expect to more then keep up when I get my own sneakfuryshot!

Anyway I wanted to show you how I am leaning in the destiny department.

Planed Fury Path

Planed twists at the moment are Grim Precision, Stealthy and Cocoon. Meaning I need 11 total twist points which is not too hard to come by with just low hanging fruit with a little work in the crossover destinies.  Now if I can just make a gear list happen simi soon.

Need More TR Cache?

I am not sure how this thought got started in my head but now it has wiggled around a bit and I need to get it out. I know dear readers, I am both sorry for what is about to happen below and you are welcome….

What if you could take your old raid gear (or any bound to character on equip item really but for this though process I am looking at raid gear) and via some ritual convert them in to some kind of “smaller” version of the item so they could be collected in a bag/chest/container to save room. And then if you need said item again you could enlarge it again via a ritual most likely converting said item to a current version of said item.

Now we would need to add a way to monetize this system as well as keeping a free in game option, say via some kind of turn in or rare item drop to shrink and another to reconstruct that could be sold in the store or bought sold via shards like a purple dopant…  Or we could easily buy shrink/enlarge mats and they start us off with a small container say one that holds 5 and then sell larger containers or container upgrades via the store like cannith grafting.

In my mind I see this Bag as more of a “trophy case”.

Running with the thought that this is a “trophy” case, we could have this do some cool things. First add a guild trophy case that more or less gathers a list of all the characters in the guilds items in their case and then show the totals.  Like if I have a chattering ring and a circle of hatred in my case and Tobril had a circle of hatred and a Tharn’s goggles in his our guild list would be like 2 circle of hatred (mouse over for owners) 1 chattering ring, 1 Tharn’s goggles.

At the same time this might also be a good place/time to do some exporting for public viewing, like how we have the guild APIs but better.

The main perk however, would be helping free up inventory with out having to add more pack or bank space. Think about it. How much old raid gear do you leave in your TR cache? Me I have caster gear that gathers dust on melee lives and melee gear during caster lives.

Many talks with Glinn about inventory space, I think I understand that is it a big deal to add more space in banks or packs. Due to the nature of the beast that is the character file in the backend. But a system like this would be amazing and as I understand “bags” are a lot easier.

OR on the flip side… they could just make a chest that any item/s can go into with no rituals and be super cool.
